Nokia takes worldwide grip on producing phone variants
Handset giant customizes devices for operator and country specific services at its centers around the world – outsources part of the process.

In this interview Pia Kantola, global head of product customization at Nokia, tells how they work with outsourcing partners, such as Swedish based Teleca. “We choose companies who offer global services who can fulfill our requirements of flexibility, technical competence and scale. With good partners we can continue to match, and where possible, surpass the expectations of our operators and national customers.”


Helping you capitalize on changing market conditions
Many companies are finding market conditions tough right now, and companies in our own industry are no exception.

One consequence is the search for ways to cut down on product development costs, often by outsourcing offshore. But actions taken within the industry will help alleviate the effects of the credit crunch.

The consolidation of the Symbian alliance, and new initiatives with Open Source and the Android alliance will help all players in the mobile ecosystem significantly cut costs and time for new product development.

 
Teleca joins the Open Handset Alliance
Teleca has now become members of the Open Handset Alliance (OHA), and we will be offering Systems Integration for Google’s Android platform around the world. Our size and geographic position will make us the largest Integrated Solutions House in the Android Ecosystem.

We will be working closely with Alliance members to provide Systems Integration services and solutions on a global scale. We have already established a large capacity of Android experts and we are ramping up our global operations to offer a complete set of solutions around Android, enabling our customers to quickly capitalize on the advantages from this exciting Open Source initiative.
