Platform Technologies: Touched by Teleca

Since the beginning of open mobile platforms, Teleca has been a leading outsourcing partner in this business, working with all the major platforms. There is still plenty of software development ongoing for the proprietary embedded technologies; however, the combined share of open platforms increases steadily, year after year. During the large number of customer projects, we have accumulated a large amount of expertise within all these technologies. The spectrum of expertise varies from development of applications and middleware to device drivers tied to phone hardware, and to different integration or customization projects. This is a brief introduction to our capability within these technologies, and our status as a certified development partner.  campaign_stamp

Symbian, S60 and UIQ: Teleca is an accredited Symbian Independent Design House (IDH), an S60 Competence Center and S60 Boutique; and one of the world’s leading Symbian/UIQ centers of excellence. We employ more than 400 Symbian specialists throughout Europe, Asia and the USA who work with device design, systems integration and application development. We are also in close cooperation with operators along with independent software and semiconductor vendors around the world to create innovative new solutions on the S60 platform.

Windows Mobile: Since 2002, Teleca has been certified as a Microsoft Gold Systems Integration Partner, offering device manufacturers tried and tested solutions. We have access to source code and the rights to modify it for exact customer needs. We have specific knowledge and experience in implementing device drivers and other low-level components for the Windows Mobile platform.

Linux: Compared to Symbian and Windows Mobile, Linux has been a late starter in the mobile domain. Now the ramp-up has started, and Teleca is also actively participating in the business. We have a Linux center of excellence in Finland, and we employ over 200 Linux engineers worldwide at our centers in Finland, Poland, China, Germany, France, Russia and Sweden. We have already provided software development services to many of the leading Linux-based mobile platforms.

During the Mobile World Congress, we will be telling more about our work on these technologies, and others. We will give you more insight into typical projects we have successfully completed, and a few showcases demonstrating our capabilities. We are also happy to have a dialogue with the technology suppliers and partners in this field; how can we still improve our joint work and solution offer together, in order to further grow the overall business opportunity within mobile platforms.
